Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager


Biomed International Products is currently seeking a Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager for a full-time, permanent position.

The Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager is responsible for 5 product lines, including imported finished & bulk products as well as raw materials for packaging. He or she will manage inventory in our local facility, negotiate and coordinate with our suppliers and maintain meticulous records from spreadsheets to our database and inventory management system. This position requires a focus on establishing and improving standard operating procedures for the department in order to drive a more effective, analytical and proactive based buying process. 

The Supply Chain / Purchasing Manager will be involved in a number of initiatives that directly impact Biomed’s sales and customer service levels, cost reduction efforts and profitability. This position works in a highly cross functional environment interacting with external vendors along with internal Sales, Marketing, Quality Control and Warehouse teams thus making communication a critical component to the success of this role. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Implement Supply Chain / Purchasing best practices and standardized operating procedures after reviewing and aligning with Biomed teams and product line needs and structure. 
  • Own vendor management by collaborating with vendors to improve service level and hold vendors accountable to fill rates and on time delivery. 
  • Continue to refine the supplier scorecard and engage in monthly meetings with suppliers. 
  • Drive process improvement within the Supply Chain network. 
  • Optimize the flow of inventory through analysis of shipping options. 
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on new initiatives. 
  • Maintain inventory management software and implement plans to improve stock out rates. 

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, problem solving, analytical, and people skills, with a focus on process improvements.
  • Ability to analyze a situation or data before making an impactful decision.
  • Strong writing skills required for creating reports, correspondence, agreements, requests, and other documentation.
  • Ability to quickly calculate discounts, margins, percentages, and volumes.
  • Experience in health products/ingredients is an asset
  • Sage 300 / Sage Inventory Advisor Experience are valuable assets
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge & experience in MS Word, Excel, and Sage Software
  • Post-secondary education, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics Management
  • 2+ years of related experience
